How notifications work

The five alerts

• Block Found, free. One of your miners solved a block. It's the one alert that still comes through during quiet hours.
• New Best Share, free. A miner beat its all-time best share.
• Worker Offline, Premium. A worker has sent no shares for longer than your offline delay, which is 15 minutes unless you change it.
• Worker Online, Premium. A worker that went offline is mining again. It starts switched off.
• Hashrate Drop, Premium. Your hashrate fell to half its recent average. You can set a different threshold.

Switch each one on or off in Settings, under Notifications. Premium also adds quiet hours, your own thresholds and a list of your last 50 alerts.

Where they come from

iOS doesn't let an app sit in the background watching a pool, so alerts are sent by our server. Once a minute it reads the public stats for every wallet you've added on the Mining tab, compares them with the previous reading and sends a push when something has changed. That's why they arrive with the app closed and when you're away from home.

Alerts only cover those wallets. The miners on your Hardware tab are read by your phone over your home network, and the server never sees them.

Timing

The server checks every minute, but a change can only show up once the pool has published it, and some pools update their stats less often than that. Worker Offline also waits out your offline delay and one more check before it fires, so a single late share doesn't set it off.

Pools

All twelve pools SoloDeck reads send all five alerts: Solo CKPool, AtlasPool, Braiins Solo, Mineshop, Blitzpool, Bitaxe.de, Parasite, Public-Pool, SoloHash, HeliosPool, SoloPool and MKPool.

Each of them reports when every worker last sent a share, so Worker Offline tells you which worker stopped. If all of a wallet's workers stop together, you get one Rig Offline alert instead of one per worker.

Limits

• An alert is only as good as the pool's stats. If they're late or wrong, so is the alert.
• If a pool can't be reached, SoloDeck sends nothing, so a pool outage doesn't show up as your workers going offline.
• Delivery goes through Apple's push service, so your phone needs a connection and notifications allowed for SoloDeck.

SoloDeck can miss an alert, so don't make it the only thing watching a setup where that would cost you.

Privacy

To send alerts, our server keeps your phone's push token, the pool wallets you're watching and your alert settings. A notification shows your name for the wallet, the pool and the worker, never the wallet address. The details are in the privacy policy.
